Web 2.0 Marketing Tip #46: Vital Use of the “Find Us” Box

By Ralf Skirr.

Most marketers today create different Web 2.0 accounts such as in social networks, blogs, and social bookmarking sites to promote their website. Are you doing the same?

It’s indubitable that this strategy can help divert more traffic and probably more sales to your website. However, it can actually be more beneficial if you are using your website to lead people to your other Web 2.0 accounts as well.

Getting More Followers in Your Web 2.0 Accounts

In addition to pulling people from your Web 2.0 sites and directing them to your website, you should also think about doing the reverse: taking people who visit your website and getting them to follow you on your Web 2.0. You might be a little hesitant about this step. You might even ask: Aren’t we supposed to lead people to our sales pages to get profits? Why should I do the reverse?

Well, your concern is understandable. However, this reverse approach can actually be very, very profitable. The reason for this is that it increases customer/visitor engagement, which ultimately translates into more contact and then more sales.

One way you can do this is by creating a “Find Us” box. This box is like a badge you can use on your website. Within it, you can put links or icons directing to other accounts you are using for your Web 2.0 marketing campaign such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc. With these buttons, your site visitors can find you in social networks or blogging platforms where they are members as well and decide whether or not they want to follow you or become your friend/fan.

Overall, this is a simple strategy that can yield very great benefits. One of the best things about this is that it is entirely hands-off. Once you create the “Find Us” box and put your Web 2.0 account badges on it, there’s no need to do anything else about; you just have to look at how many new friends, followers, or fans you are getting.
